VOTE FOR THE MOST EFFECTIVE ARGUMENT

On July 22nd, 2014, two diverse groups of young rhetoricians convened in order to create a persuasive argument about a controversial topic. Brainstorming a thesis, these rhetoricians-in-the-making evaluated a specific aspect of Hurricane Katrina. The links below contain the sentence outlines for each group.

Group 1 ("The Dream Team"): The government’s response to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina was irresponsible because the consequences caused injuries, malnutrition of survivors, and death.

Group 2 ("The Team") thesis: The government response to Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath was wrong because it violates the principle that the government is supposed to protect American citizens as well as the principle that a response should have been timelier considering the fact that the hurricane was not a surprise.
